BCB to reduce pacer Shahadat’s ban

Akram Khan, the chairman of the cricket operation department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday said the board has decided to reduce the ban of Shahadat Hossain.

The right-arm fast bowler was banned in 2020 for five years for abusing a teammate physically during the last season of the National Cricket League.

He has recently applied to the board to reduce his ban so that he can resume his career and pay for the treatment of his ailing mother who has been suffering from cancer for a long time.

"We've discussed the issue with other board directors, and everybody's is positive about reducing the ban," Akrarm told the media. "We've decided to reduce his ban so that he can take part in domestic cricket league and treat his mother."

Shahadat played his last competitive game in November 2019. He played for the national team last time in 2015 against Pakistan.

He is the only Bangladeshi bowler who has a five-wicket haul at the Lord's. Shahadat represented Tigers in 38 Tests, 51 ODIs and six T20Is and bagged 72, 47, and four wickets respectively. He has four five-wicket hauls in Tests.
