Bangladesh Cricket Board have asked Fortune Barishal franchise to show cause why they let Shakib Al Hasan miss the official captain's photo session ahead of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League final, said BCB president Nazmul Hasan.
Nazmul answered the question of reporters after the final match between Fortune Barishal and Comilla Victorians when the latter came out winners by one run on Friday.
Shakib skipped the official photo session of the captain's with the trophy on Thursday and attended a shooting for TVC. Though the official statement from the franchise was, he had an upset stomach.
Nazmul said, " So long we have not spared anyone. The franchises were responsible but we did not spare anybody. We have already issued show cause notice to the franchise. They have to explain why and how he breached the biosecurity bubble because we instructed all the franchises to maintain a biosecure protocol. They breached it and therefore we have issued a show cause notice", the BCB president told the reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium after the BPL final.
"Nothing could be done in the middle of the tournament but now as the tournament ends now we will do the needful '', Nazmul added.
Shakib skipped the photo session and practice session to attend a shooting for a TV commercial which took place at a studio in Dhaka on Thursday. The manager of Fortune Barishal later told the media that Shakib came out negative in a Covid test and joined the team before the final.
Nazmul told the reporters that no one is above the rules, "What I want to say is, no one is above the rules. The franchise must show more responsibility. He did it with permission under certain protocol,” said the BCB president.
