Bangladesh Football Federation has appointed Mario Lemos as the coach of national football team for the upcoming four-nation football tournament in Sri Lanka.

Lemos, a Portuguese football coach, has been working with Dhaka Abahani since 2018.

He also had a stint with the national team as the fitness coach prior to his engagement with Abahani.

In a media release, BFF said that the decision of appointing Lemos as the head coach was made in the seventh meeting of the national team’s committee.

Lemos will work as the head coach for Bangladesh national team during the four-team tournament where Maldives and Seychelles are the other two participants along with the hosts Sri Lanka.

BFF discharged Jamey Day from his duty and roped in Oscar Bruzon as interim coach for the SAFF Championship where Bangladesh failed to reach the final.

Bruzon, who is the coach of Basundhara Kings was approached for the job but he did not want to carry on due to his club commitments.
