Saif Sporting Club beat Dhaka Mohammedan SC by 2-1 goals in their second league match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football on Thursday.
Saif SC now have four points with a 1-1 draw against Rahmatganj MFS in the first match.
Mohammedan tasted their first defeat at the hands of Saif SC at their home venue Shaheed Direndranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla. They currently have three points which they earned outplaying Arambagh KS by 3-0 goals in their opening match.
In the day’s match, forward Arifur Rahman put Saif SC ahead in the 43rd minute capitalising on a pass of Nigerian Kenneth Ngwoke (1-0) while Nigerian striker Jphm Okoli doubled the margin (2-0) in the stoppage time of the first half (45+2 minute).
Japanese Uryu Nagata reduced Mohammedan’s margin in the 58th minute utilising a pass from Habibur Rahman Shohag.
In the day’s other match, Chittagong Abahani Limited tasted their first win in their second league match beating all-losers Arambagh KS by a solitary goal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.
Brazilian forward Nixon Guylherme scored the match-winner for the sky-blue team in the 30th minute off a pass of Nigerian booter Mathew Chinedu (1-0).
With the day’s maiden victory, Ctg Abahani, which conceded 1-2 goals defeat against Sheikh Russel KC in their first match, opened the account securing three points from two matches.
Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union Club are yet to score any point after two matches as they suffered a 0-3 goals defeat against Dhaka Mohammedan SC..
