BPL Football: Sheikh Jamal finish 2nd beating Mohammedan 2-0

Three times champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi finished 2nd in the first phase of the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football, beating Mohammedan 2-0 on Sunday.

They dominated the first half of the match 1-0 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Uzbek forward Otabek Validjonov scored the first goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 25th minute (1-0) while Gambian striker Solomon Kings confirmed the victory for them in the 83rd minute (2-0).

After the day's feat, Sheikh Jamal advanced to the second slot in the league table – toppling six times champions Dhaka Abahani – securing 26 points from first phase matches.

Mohammedan remained in the sixth slot with their previous credit of 19 points from 12 encounters.

Following the day's result, Dhaka Abahani slipped to third place with 25 points from 12 league outings.

Federation Cup champions Bashundhara Kings, also former BPL champions, have comfortably dominated the ongoing league, securing 34 points from 12 matches.

Arambagh KS and Brothers Union Club are struggling to avoid relegation with only one and five points from 12 matches.

After the first phase matches, Gambian forward Sheikh Jamal Omar Jobe and Brazilian forward Bashundhara Kings dominated the scorer list, scoring 12 goals each.
