A case was filed on Wednesday against cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife cabin crew Tamima Sultana by Md Rakib Hasan, the first husband of Tamima.
Rakib Hasan confirmed the matter to the media saying he filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim alleging Tamima of marrying Nasir without divorcing him.
Earlier on February 22, 2021, a legal notice was served asking the government to digitise marriage and divorce registrations.
Rights organisation Aid for Men Foundation, and three victims -- Md Rakib Hasan, Md Sohag Hossain and Md Kamrul Hasan -- collectively sent the legal notice through lawyer Ishrat Hasan to the secretaries of ministries of Law, Information and Technology, and Religious Affairs, asking to take necessary measures in three days.
On February 14, cricketer Nasir Hossain tied the knot with airline cabin crew Tamima Sultana at a restaurant in Uttara in the capital.
After the news of the marriage broke, Tamima sultana’s ex-husband Rakib Hasan filed a general diary at Uttara West Police Station alleging that she married Nasir Hossain without divorcing him.
