Defending Champions Comilla Victorians cruised to victory against Chattogram Challengers in the ongoing ninth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League on Saturday to keep track of their top two ambitions.

Comilla, courtesy of Mohammad Rizwan’s 61 and Mosaddek Hossain’s unbeaten 37, easily chased down 157 set by Chattogram.

Comilla currently sit third on the table with 14 points, behind Sylhet Strikers and Fortune Barishal, who have 16 and 14 points respectively.

Chattogram, on the flip side, were ruled out of playoff qualification on Friday when Rangpur Riders beat Dhaka Dominators as the side from the port city only have four points from their 10 games.

On Saturday, Chattogram were eyeing a consolation win in the dead rubber matches for them and were on target to reach a good total, courtesy of a pair of fifties from Usman Khan and Afif Hossain.

But a slight collapse at the death ruined that opportunity, and a cameo from Darwish Rasooli, in the end, could only take them to 156-7.

In reply, Litton Das’ absence saw Comilla struggle at the start but a 76-run stand between Rizwan and Mosaddek ensured that they had an easy path to the win.

Rizwan scored 61 off 47 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes. Mosaddek stayed unbeaten on 37 off 27 balls, hitting three fours and a six.
