The salary of players in the new Bangladesh Cricket Board national contract will increase by 10-20 per cent.

BCB Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Akram Khan informed the media on Thursday that he personally requested the BCB president to increase the players’ salary.

“In the current situation, other boards are cutting off the salary of players and staff. On the contrary, I requested the board president to provide an increment of 10-20 per cent,” Akram said.

After BCB’s 10th annual meeting on Tuesday, President Nazmul Hassan informed the media that the central contract is almost ready and the details will be disclosed soon.

Akram said that they needed a few pieces of information before confirming the contracts, which they have already gathered from the selectors.

“After the board meeting, we needed to know some things. We got to know them after talking to the selectors. Now we will send the letter to the players asking them which formats they want to play. Once that arrives, we will confirm the contracts,” he said.

This year’s central contract will see Shakib Al Hasan re-entering the list. He was dropped from the contract after his one-year ban from cricket for failing to report corrupt approaches.
