England and Wales Cricket Board has announced a completely new squad for the one-day international series against Pakistan after three cricketers tested covid-19 positive and others were sent in isolation as they appeared in close contacts.
Seven members of the England cricket team have been tested positive for Covid-19, the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed on Tuesday.
Three of them are players, whereas the remaining four are team management staff, informed ECB.
In collaboration with Public Health England, Public Health Wales and Bristol Local Health Authority, those impacted will now observe a period of self-isolation from July 4 following quarantine protocol of the United Kingdom.
The other players of the squad have been deemed as close contacts and thus will have to isolate.
ECB has announced a whole new squad for their series against Pakistan, set to start on Thursday, including nine uncapped players. But still, there was no room for Alex Hales, who was dropped from the team ahead of the 2019 World Cup for recreational drug use.
Earlier on Saturday, England announced that the squad that beat Sri Lanka comprehensively would be the one to face Pakistan.
Marylebone Cricket Club earlier announced that they would allow spectators in full capacity during the second ODI between England and Pakistan on July 10.
