The England cricket team's scheduled tour of Bangladesh in October for Three One-Day internationals and an equal number of Twenty20 internationals will be postponed as leading English cricketers will play in the remainder of the Indian Premier League, reports The Telegraph.
The remainder of the IPL will take place in the UAE in September-October. And after that, the ICC World T20 will also take place in UAE and Oman.
IPL considered ideal preparation for the T20 World Cup – which will also be played in the UAE, simplifying travel and quarantine requirements, the England and Wales Cricket Board is planning to move back the Bangladesh tour to somewhere in the next 18 months, reports The Telegraph.
According to the ICC's Future Tour Programs, England is scheduled to tour Bangladesh in October for Three ODI matches which will be part of the World Cup Super League, a qualifying process for the 2023 World Cup, and then three T20 matches ahead of the T20 World Cup.
But the postponement of IPL in April in the midway and escalating covid-19 situation around the globe has changed many things as the remaining part of the IPL is shifted to U.A.E and will run from September 19 to October 15 and the ICC Men's T20 World Cup will begin from 19 October though England being the higher-ranked team will play directly from the super 12 round which will begin from October 24.
England's leading white-ball cricketers like Josh Butler, Eoin Morgan, Johnny Bairstow, and Jofra Archer all are contracted with IPL franchises and it is highly unlikely that ECB will pull out their key players from the IPL ahead of World T20 for the Bangladesh tour.
The Telegraph also reported that the ECB is currently in talks with the BCCI to allow Indian cricketers to take part in `the hundred', a newly launched 100 ball cricket format.
According to The Telegraph, chances of England touring Bangladesh in October is looking bleak though no comments from the officials of either ECB or BCB is yet to come in this matter.
