Former director of Bangladesh Cricket Board and also former general secretary of Rangpur Zila Krira Sangstha Abdul Gafur died of COVID-19 infection Friday. He was 76.

He breathed his last around 4:00am at the isolation center of corona dedicated hospital in Rangpur.

Dr SM Nurunnobi, coordinator of the hospital, confirmed the matter to the media.

Abdul Gafur was admitted to the corona dedicated hospital on April 5 after he tested COVID-19 positive. He had high blood pressure including breathing difficulties and diabetics, said the physician.

Earlier on April 2, the former BCB director was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital with sickness.

Later, he was shifted to the COVID-19 dedicated hospital after his test report for the virus came out positive.
