Bangladeshi International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman missed out on the Grandmaster norm by just a point as he came fourth in the Year Long 1st GM Chess Tournament organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation.
IM Fahad earned 6 points out of 9 games and tied for the 3rd place but he became 4th in the tie-breaking system that led to him missing the Grandmaster norm by only one point.
In the final round held on Thursday, Fahad beat Grandmaster Deep Sengupta but that was not enough.
Indian IM Aronyk Ghosh became champion with seven points and IM Neelash Saha of India became runner-up with the same number of points. GM Vadim Malakhatko became 3rd with six points, whereas GM Deep Sengupta of India became 5th with 5½ points.
