Grand Master Ziaur Rahman and International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman scored four points after seven rounds of games, while Fide Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia and Fide Master Mehdi Hasan Parag scored three-and-a-half and two points respectively in the 28th Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival-Masters in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
IM Mohammad Fahad with white pieces in Queen’s Gambit Declined system game drew with GM P Iniyan of India in the seventh round after 37 moves, while GM Ziaur, who played with black pieces, chose French Defense and lost at the 43rd move to GM Aryan Chopra of India.
FM Tahsin won against Vaibhab Jayant Raut of India and FM Mehdi Hasan Parag won against Hamad Bader of UAE.
The eighth or penultimate round games will start on Wednesday from 7:00pm. In the eighth round GM Zia will play against GM Amin Bassem of Egypt, IM Fahad will play against CM Prraneeth Vuppala of India, FM Tahsin will play against CM Kushagra Mohan of India and FM Parag will play against Ojas Kulkarni of India.
