ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal’s uncle, Akbar Khan passed away in the early hours of Thursday.
Tamim posted the news of his uncle’s demise on his Facebook account.
Akbar Khan, younger brother of former Bangladesh captain Akram Khan, was 45 years old. In his playing days, he represented Chattogram Abahoni and Star Club and retired in 2012. He is survived by two sons and his wife.
Tamim Iqbal reminisced his uncle stating,’’ My uncle was a cricketer too. He was my first cricket coach and I played my very first match with a cricket ball under his supervision. He helped me develop my basics and core strengths and laid the foundations for me to make my progress.’’
His namaz-e-janaza will take place at the outer ground of MA Aziz Stadium in the afternoon and he will be buried later at the family burial ground.
