Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan, after Bangladesh’s four-wicket win against Afghanistan in the first One-Day International of the three-match series at Chattogram, said that the future of Bangladesh cricket was not so bad.

Bangladesh were 45-6, chasing 216 in the match, and only a brilliant unbeaten stand between youngsters Afif Hossain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took them home. Afif stayed unbeaten on 93, while Miraz scored an unbeaten 81.

After the match, Nazmul told the media that the innings from these two would be inspiring for other young cricketers.

“We were expected to win against Afghanistan in ODIs. But the way these two (Afif and Miraz) handled the situation we were in was incredible. This is good news for us that the up and coming players are performing. The future is not as bad as I had thought,” he told the media on Wednesday.

The BCB President added, “It was not confirmed even the day before yesterday that these two (Afif and Miraz) will play. Now I am thinking what would have happened if they had not played?”

Bangladesh will play their second match of the series on February 25 at the same venue.
