With the slogan of “Center of Excellence,” a sports institute is set to be built in Bangladesh for the first time by the initiative of the youth and sports ministry.

The main goal of building the sports institute is to achieve national laurels through increasing the physical and mental capabilities of athletes, developing sports techniques and leadership qualities.

Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, the adviser of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, briefed the media about the plans and actions in this regard on Sunday at a press conference at the secretariat, reports BSS.

Mohiuddin Ahmed, the secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was also present at that time.

“Discussions are going on to set up a Sports Institute which will provide specialised sports services and infrastructural facilities through effective collaboration with national and international renowned sports institutions,” the sports adviser said.

“Our goal is to produce skilled athletes of international standards and achieve higher results at the international level. Many developed countries including the United Kingdom (UK), The United States of America (USA), China, and France have achieved incredible success in the field of sports by combining sports and science in an impeccable way.

“Bangladesh also wants to reach that goal through Bangladesh Sports Institute.”

He further said experts from Bangladesh and outside of the country will join sports institutes to train the athletes to achieve the target.

“To ensure the quality of service and achieve the desired results, experts from the country and outside of the country will join the Bangladesh Sports Institute. The Ministry of Youth and Sports is committed to execute this project as early as possible. As a centre of excellence, the Bangladesh Sports Institute will be a blessing for the sports fraternity.”

The sports adviser said his ministry is taking various initiatives to maintain a fair environment and activities in all areas of the sports arena.
