Bangladesh’s fastest man Imranur Rahman failed to take part in the World Athletics Championships 2022 in USA due to a groin injury on Saturday.

Despite performing well in the preliminary heat, Imranur couldn’t race in the main Men's 100m heat. He injured his groin in the warm-ups and had to sit back.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Athletics Federation Abdur Rokib confirmed the news on Saturday.

An impressive showing in the second preliminary heat saw Imranur place third amongst six participants with 10.47 seconds. He stood fourth overall, including four heats.

The 28-year-old sprinter was born and raised in England but returned to Bangladesh and participated in the national athletics competition for the army.

In January this year, he finished a 100-metre sprint in 10.50 seconds to become the fastest man in Bangladesh breaking a 22-year-old record.
