India national women’s team thrashed Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 in Sylhet to win their seventh title of the tournament.

India, the favourites ahead of the tournament and the most successful team in the event, hardly broke a sweat as they have Sri Lanka no chance to compete.

Batting first, Sri Lanka could only manage 65-9 in the 20 overs following some clueless batting, which showed clear signs of pressure of playing the final.

Only two batters from Sri Lanka managed to reach double figures- Oshadi Ranasinghe (13) and Inoka Ranaweera (18).

For India, pacer Renuka Singh picked up three wickets, with Sneh Rana and Rajeshwari Gayakwad picking up two each.

Chasing 66, India opener Smriti Mandhana was in a ballistic mood as she thrashed the Lankan bowlers all around to score her first fifty of the tournament.

She ended the match with a huge six over long-on, which also took her to fifty off just 25 deliveries. Smriti stayed unbeaten on 51, which included six fours and three sixes.
