Shakib Al Hasan has returned to the Kolkata Knight Riders as the franchise bought him for 32,000,000 rupees (37,396,641 Bangladeshi taka) following a bidding war with Panjab Kings for the Indian Premier League's (IPL) upcoming season.
KKR made the opening bid for Shakib, who was listed at the highest base price of 2 crore rupees after his name came up in the second set of the auction.
Punjab Kings then joined in on the bidding, raising his price to ₹2.2 crore. KKR pushed the bid to ₹2.4 crore almost immediately after that. Punjab Kings then raised the bid further to 2.6 crore rupees.
After a few sets of bids between the two sides, Shakib was sold to KKR for ₹3.2 crore.

Among these eight seasons, the premier all-rounder played six for KKR starting from 2011 and helped them win a few titles by contributing with both bat and ball, especially in the 2014's season.
He was released by the franchise in 2018 as he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Shakib had a contract with Sunrisers till 2020 but the franchise let him go after his ban.
