Chattogram Challengers opener Will Jacks smashed a brilliant unbeaten 91 off 57 deliveries to help them beat Sylhet Sunrisers by four wickets and seal a place in the play-off stage of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League on Saturday.
Sylhet managed quite a defendable total as they scored 185-6. But their bowling attack was no match for Jacks, who hit his career-best T20 knock to take Chattogram home with five deliveries in hand.
Chattogram seals their place in the playoffs, as they have finished their league stage with 10 points.
Their qualification means either Minister Dhaka or Khulna Tigers will qualify, depending on the result of the match between Comilla Victorians and Khulna later on Saturday.
Sylhet, who were put in to bat first by Chattogram skipper Afif Hossain, had a good start, courtesy to the openers Anamul Haque and Colin Ingram.
But the thrust in their innings came from the middle order as Lendl Simmons scored 44 off 27 deliveries and Ravi Bopara blasted 44 off 21 deliveries. Mosaddek Hossain scored 35 off 22 deliveries.
But Jacks, who carried his bat through to hit eight fours and four sixes innings took the match away from Sylhet.
He was assisted in the middle by Chadwick Walton with 35 from 23, and a seven-ball cameo of 21 runs from Shamim Hossain made things even easier.
Jacks stayed until the end and smoked Alauddin Babu for a six over midwicket in the first delivery of the final over to send Chattogram through.
