League champions Bashundhara Kings smartly reached the semifinal of the Federation Cup Football as the 2nd team eliminating Rahmatganj MFS by 2-0 goals in the 2nd quarterfinal at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj on April 16.
Kings midfielder Sohel Rana and Nigerian booter Mfon Sunday Udoh scored for them to take the team into the semifinal.
Oscar Bruzon’s team will be a bit ahead of the Sky Blues as they set a new milestone in the history of the country's domestic football.
They clinched the record fifth consecutive title of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football with three matches in hand after beating Mohammedan Sporting Club by 2-1 goals on May 11.
On the other hand, Abahani Limited beat FortisFootball Club by 3-1 goals in the fourth and last quarterfinal match held at Bashundhara Kings Arena on April 30.
In that match, Abahani’s Saint Vincent forward Cornelius Stewart, Brazilian forward Washington Brandao and his compatriot Jonathan Fernandes scored one goal each to take the Sky Blues to the semis.
Washington Brandao is the highest goal scorer in this season of the Federation Cup so far with five goals. His teammate Cornelius Stewart is in the second with four goals.
They earlier confirmed the last four spot by beating Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 2-0 goals in the quarterfinal match held at the same venue.
On the other hand, Abahani Limited earlier confirmed their spot of semifinal defeating Fortis Football Club by 3-1 goals held at Bashundhara Kings Arena.
The winners of Tuesday's semifinal will meet Mohammedan Sporting Club in the final match which will be held on May 21 at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
Earlier, Mohammedan Sporting Club stormed into the final of the tournament beating Bangladesh Police Football Club by 2-1 goals in the first semifinal held at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
The attacking zone depends a lot on these two foreign players. If they score for the team in the early time and their defenders do their jobs properly, Abahani will be ahead in the match surely.
Earlier, Mohammedan SC confirmed their place in the Final downing Bangladesh Police FC by 2-1 at the Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshigonj.
