Liton Das will lead Bangladesh in their upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Sunday.

This will be the first time Liton will lead the Test side after leading the One-Day International side against India last year.

Bangladesh’s regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan is out with a right index finger injury.

Apart from Liton’s appointment, two uncapped players have been included in the 15-player squad.

21-year-old batter Shahadat Hossain Dipu and 20-year-old pacer Mushfik Hasan have been called up.

Shahadat is a right-handed middle-order batter who made his first-class debut in 2021. He has scored 1,265 runs from 20 first-class games with two hundreds and 10 half-centuries.

Mushfik burst onto the scene after his debut in the 2022 first-class season. The 20-year-old fast bowler has taken 49 wickets from 13 matches with three five-wicket hauls.

Both were part of Bangladesh A side in the just concluded unofficial Test series against West Indies A.

Apart from them, Zakir Hasan has returned to the squad following his recovery from injury replacing Shadman Islam.
