Mahmudullah Riyad has been dropped from the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

Bangladesh national team selectors Minhajul Abedin and Habibul Bashar announced the 15-man squad, along with four reserve players was announced on Wednesday.

There were six changes from the Asia Cup squad. Besides Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim has retired from the format, and Mohammad Naim, Anamul Haque, Shak Mahedi Hasan, and Parvez Hossain Emon have been axed.

In their place, five players have come in — Liton Das, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Hasan Mahmud, and Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Mahedi, who has been dropped from the main squad, will travel to Australia as a reserve alongside leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, pacer Shoriful Islam, and opener Soumya Sarkar.

This will also be the squad for the Tigers’ tri-nation series against New Zealand and Pakistan in New Zealand.

Nurul will be the deputy of Shakib Al Hasan in the World Cup.
