Bangladesh Test skipper Mominul Haque expressed his reluctance to lead the team as Test captain on Thursday evening.

The left-handed batter revealed his decision following a meeting with Bangladesh Cricket Board President, Nazmul Hassan.

He said that the decision might help his batting as it would allow him to play with more ease.

He revealed the captaincy is taking a toll on him because of poor performances with the bat.

“I can’t contribute to the team as captain. I think it would be better if the captaincy is given to someone else. The rest is up to BCB,” he said

Hassan urged Mominul to continue as Test captain but the left-handed batter conveyed his unwillingness to continue.

Mominul led Bangladesh in 17 Tests, winning just three. Under his captaincy, Bangladesh lost in 12 Tests.
