Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, who injured his index finger while playing for Dhaka Premier League side Abahani Limited, will be fit for Bangladesh’s upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, authorities said.

Mushfiq injured his finger while catching a throw in his team’s match against Gazi Group Cricketers on Monday.

Bangladesh are scheduled to leave for Zimbabwe on June 29 for one Test, three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals.

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s physician Debashish Chowdhury told The Business Post that he believed Mushfiq would not miss the Zimbabwe tour as the veteran is expected to recover by then.

“We will look at his injury again after seven days. My observation says that he will be fit for the Zimbabwe series as we have about two weeks of time before the series kicks off,” he said.

Mushfiq, who has a hairline fracture in the index finger of his left hand, will be missing the remainder of the Super League stage.

“We did scans of Mushfiq’s finger. There is a hairline fracture but nothing too serious. We have told him to take complete rest for the next seven days, meaning that he will not play in the DPL anymore,” the BCB’s physician informed.

Mushfiq is the third senior Bangladesh player to miss the Super League after Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal.

Shakib, who had been leading Mohammedan SC, left for USA to visit his family whereas Tamim had to drop out because of a meniscus injury in his right knee.

Both, like Mushfiq, are expected to be with the team in Zimbabwe.
