Spinner Nahida Akter emerged as the first Bangladeshi cricketer to win the "ICC Women's Player of the Month" award for November 2023, considering her brilliant series-winning performance against Pakistan at home.
Nahida was selected for the award after beating her compatriot Fargana Hoque and Pakistani spinner Sadia Iqbal in a tough competition.
In the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Pakistan, Nahida played a vital role for Bangladesh's 2-1 series victory, grabbing seven wickets.
In the series-deciding third and last match, Nahida also displayed her brilliance, claiming three wickets for 26 runs and helping Bangladesh win a historic series against Pakistan. Later, she was adjudged player of the series.
Nahida, 23, was named the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in women's T20Is and the third-highest wicket-taker in ODIs.
Bangladesh also won the T20 home series against Pakistan last August.
Such an individual show has also been reflected in the Bangladesh women's team's recent upward performance.
