Sunil Narine hit the quickest fifty in Bangladesh Premier League history as he smoked the Chattogram Challengers bowlers to reach 50 runs in just 13 deliveries.

The Comilla Victorians all-rounder was eventually out for 57 off 16 deliveries, after hitting five fours and six sixes.

He broke the record of Ahmed Shahzad, who had fifty off 16 deliveries in the first edition of the BPL in 2013.

Narine opened the innings for Comilla on Wednesday as they were chasing 149 in the second qualifier to secure a place in the final.

After Liton Das’ dismissal in the first over, Narine hit a six and two fours off Shoriful in the same over.

He then smoked Mehidy Hasan Miraz for three sixes and a four in the second over and hit Afif Hossain for a six and a four in the fifth over.

He hit Mrittunjoy Chowdhury over the long-on boundary to reach his fifty off just 13 deliveries, before smashing another four.

He was out in the same over as he tried to send Mrittunjoy to the stands again, but only managed a top edge and the left-arm seamer took a good catch to send back the destructive Caribbean.
