Bangladesh Chess Federation hosted a press briefing on Monday, to announce the dates for the upcoming Walton 40th National junior under-20 chess championship. The championship will be inaugurated on Tuesday, 15th February at 11:30am.
The event will take place at the Chess Federation hall-room on the 2nd floor of the old building at the National Sports Council.
The participants in the championship must be born after January 1st, 2002 and will play in a 9 round Swiss-league system. Those who are interested to participate were asked to register through their respective educational institutions and would have to enroll with their age certificate and entry fee receipt by Thursday, before 1:00pm.
The prize money for the open section was announced to be Tk 60,000 while Tk 40,000 was allocated to reward the winner from the girl’s category.
FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, senior executive director of WALTON Group, Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim, general secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation and president, FIDE Zone-3.2, Masudur Rahman Mallick, joint secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation, International Arbiter Md Haroon Or Rashid and Sajal Mahmud, executive member of Bangladesh Chess Federation were present in the briefing and announced the details.
Director of Walton will be the chief guest and will inaugurate the event.
