Two Zimbabwe returnee women cricketers who were diagnosed as carrying the Omicron variant of the covid-19 virus were taken to Mugda Medical College Hospital, said a health official.
Niatuzzaman, acting director of the Mugda Hospital told The Business Post that the two cricketers are doing fine, they were admitted to the hospital because of the new omicron variant
“Two cricketers and another member of the team are now admitted in the hospital, two are found positive with omicron variant. They are doing well, with no visible complexity or ailment. But as the variant is new, we are taking preventative measures”, he said.
The women cricketers were part of the team which went to Zimbabwe to take part in the ICC Women World Cup qualifier, the event which was called off in the midway due to the increase in Omicron infection.
