Bangladesh Chess Federation will host the Golden Jubilee of Independence Premier Division Chess League 2021-22 from 3:00 PM on Thursday at Asia Hotel and Resorts on Topkhana Road in Dhaka.
The Golden Jubilee of Independence 1st Division Chess League 2021-22 1st division league will also start from Thursday at the sports room of Bangladesh Chess Federation and will house 12 teams competing for promotion.
The Premier Division Chess League will be played in a Round Robin League format. This league will be a group event with participation of 12 teams in total, two of which were promoted from the First Division League 2021.
Defending champions, Bangladesh Police and runner-up Shaheen Chess Club will be joined newly promoted Rupali Bank Krira Parishad and Manha’s Castle.
A total of 18 Grandmasters will participate in the Premier Division League,of which five are Bangladeshi, 11 are Indian, one each from Georgia and Iran.
The Bangladeshi Grandmasters are- Niaz Morshed, Ziaur Rahman, Reefat Bin Sattar, Mollah Abdullah Al Rakib, Enamul Hossain Rajib.
The premier division league will feature 22 foreign players and will feature six International Masters, three Bangladeshis and three Indians.
