Sanat Babla has been elected as the new president of the Bangladesh Sports Press Association for 2022-23 after the bi-annual general meeting and the election of the executive committee took place on Friday.
Sanat was running for his second term after successfully completing his tenure of two years from 2020 which was marred with a pandemic situation.
Sanat, a special correspondent at the Daily Kaler Kantho received 151 votes while his competitor Arif Shohel received 71 votes.
Samon Hossain of the Daily Manabjamin contested against Sohail Sarwar Chanchal from the Daily Ittefaq, Samon won by 140-82 votes.
The other elected members are; Anwarullah and Qazi Shahieedul Alam as vice-presidents, Redwan Shoaib and Mujnabin Khan Tareq as Joint Secretaries, Rubel Jubaer as Organising Secretary, Samiur Rahman as Office Secretary, Miah Rafiqul Islam as Finance Secretary, Faisal Titumir as Sports and Cultural Secretary.
The elected Executive Committee members are, Porag Arman, Khairul Islam Shaheen, Talha Bin Nazrul, Shahabuddin Ahmed, Raschida Sultana, Abu Huraira Tamim, Sazid Mustahid, Faizul Islam and Mashuk Mia.
BSPA is the only affiliated body of the International Sports Press Association in Bangladesh.
