Shadman Islam and Mohammed Mithun gave a good start to the Bangladesh Cricket Board XI’s tour of Tamil Nadu as they both scored half-centuries on the first day of the first four-day match in the Chepauk Stadium.
BCB XI skipper Mohammed Mithun won the toss and decided to bat first. Though BCB XI lost Mahmudul Hasan Joy early, Shadman and Saif Hasan built a partnership of 85 runs to ensure they got a strong start.
Bangladesh opener Shadman played an important inning before getting out on 89, missing his hundred. Captain Mohammed Mithun then took over things in the middle and ensured their batting didn’t collapse at the end of the day. Mithun stayed unbeaten on 74.
After Mominul Haque failed to make his innings bigger, Anamul Haque Bijoy couldn’t do much as Ajitha Roy clean bowled him out. Mithun and Jaker Ali will start the next day.
Tamil Nadu Cricket Association XI managed to pick up five wickets thanks to Vignesh, who took 3 wickets on the first day. Left-arm spinner Ajith Roy took the other two. Gowtham Kannan, Sunil Krishna, and Kaushik Gandhi remained wicketless.
The tour was supposed to start on October 9 according to the initial itinerary, but the schedules had to be changed due to the delay in getting the clearance.
The tour of India was arranged by BCB after their series against Afghanistan was cancelled. BCB XI will play TNCA in two four-day matches and three One-Days.
