Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan sustained a thigh muscle injury during the ICC World Cup match against England, casting doubt on his availability for the upcoming clash against India on October 19th.

However, Khaled Mahmud, a member of the Bangladesh team management, stated that Shakib is eager to take on India if he feels physically up to it. Mahmud emphasised that Shakib is currently free from pain in the injured leg, but his performance in the match remains uncertain.

With several matches ahead, Mahmud emphasised the importance of Shakib's sustained fitness for the duration of the World Cup, deferring to the advice of medical professionals.

Regarding Litton Das' recent altercation with journalists at the team hotel, Mahmud expressed his surprise and regret over the incident, affirming the team's support for journalistic coverage.

Litton has since issued an apology in response to the widespread criticism.

Bangladesh has competed in three World Cup 2023 matches to date, securing only victory against Afghanistan while facing defeat in two encounters, respectively, against New Zealand and England.
