Bangladesh close in on winning the only Test match against Ireland as the Irish trail by 128 runs at the end of second day at The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Day-2 finished with Ireland batting on 27-4 after Bangladesh put a 155 run lead in their innings.

For Bangladesh, skipper Shakib Al Hasan and spinner Taijul Islam took two wickets each to bag the third session in Bangladesh’s favor.

Before that, Mushfiqur Rahim’s brilliant hundred put Bangladesh in the driving seat as they reached 369 before getting all-out putting a 155 lead to their name.

Mushfiqur's 10th Test century was ably assisted by skipper Shakib’s 87, while Mehidy Hasan was the last man dismissed on 55.

Ireland’s Andy McBrine took six wickets for 118, his career best bowling figure.

It was McBrine's maiden Test five-wicket haul and only the second from the Irish team.

Ireland have lost all three of their previous Tests since becoming a full member of the International Cricket Council in 2017.
