Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is ready to skip the remaining parts of Pakistan Super League to make himself available for Dhaka Premier League which is scheduled to begin from May 31.
Mohammedan Sporting Club submitted a letter to the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis claiming that the star all-rounder was willing to take part in the DPL for them, reports Cricbuzz.
"We have submitted a letter signed by Shakib to CCDM that says he is keen to take part in the competition for us," Tarikul Islam Tito, a top official at the MSC was quoted in the report.
"He will not play in the PSL and instead opted to be part of our team in DPL. He is a free player because he was not part of the 2019-20 DPL due to his ban and now as he is eligible to take part and we have shown our keenness to take him in our side. BCB is yet to grant him for us but we hope to get the permission soon," Tarikul said.
The 2019-20 season of DPL saw the postponement on March 19, 2020 following one round of matches due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
Kazi Inam, chairman of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis, a BCB wing to host the Dhaka-club based tournament, said that the all-rounder is eligible to take part in the DPL.
Shakib Al Hasan was picked by Lahore Qalandars while Mahmudullah Riyad and Liton Das were signed by Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings respectively in the replacement draft for the remaining part of the sixth edition of PSL which is expected to resume in early June.
