Six members of the Bangladesh One-Day team left Dhaka on Thursday for Zimbabwe to join the rest of the members, confirmed BCB official.
Shahriar Nafees, a former cricketer presently working at the Cricket Operations department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board told The Business Post that due to escalating coronavirus infection rate, they were sending the white-ball-players earlier than the schedule.
"The coronavirus situation is getting complex day by day and air travel embargo might be in effect any moment, therefore, we have decided to send the white-ball-players as early as possible, Nafees said.
The six cricketers are Mustafizur Rahman, Mosaddek Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Mithun, Mohammad Saifuddin and Afif Hossain.
Five more players, who are part of the Twenty20 team will soon join the rest of the team as per the availability of tickets, said Nafees.
"We booked the tickets earlier but now are changing dates, therefore, we are not getting as many tickets we want. That’s why we are trying to send the players whenever seats are available," he added.
