Spinners Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz brought Bangladesh back in the game as Pakistan lost four wickets in the first session of day three at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Sunday.

Left-arm spinner Taijul gave Bangladesh their much-needed breakthrough in the very first over of the day.

Bangladesh bowlers had a fruitless day throughout the second day's play where Pakistan scored 145-0 in 57 overs.

In the first over of day three, Taijul struck with his arm-ball which is his key weapon and got double success.

Abdullah Shafique was the first to go. He tried to play the ball through the square by making a room and went in backfoot but the ball hit him in the pad first.

While the field umpire signalled out for leg before wicket, Shafique, who was on 52, discussed with his partner Abid Ali.

He, however, did not call for a review and walked back to the dressing room.

Azhar Ali was the next man in and was also struck on the backfoot but this time the field umpire denied.

Mominul Haque went upstairs for a review and DRS showed the ball pitched in line and would hit the stumps, so Azhar had to go for a duck.

Mehidy removed Pakistan's skipper Babar Azam for only 10 runs, cleaning him up with a faster straight delivery.

Fawad Alam also departed for only eight runs, again the wicket taker was Taijul but wicketkeeper Liton should also get a fair share of praise for his fine catch.

Pakistan were 203-4 after 88 overs at lunch. Abidjan Ali was unbeaten on 127 and Mohammad Rizwan on 5.
