A tidy bowling performance from Bangladesh saw them wrap up the Ireland first innings for just 214 on the first day of the one-off Test in Dhaka.
Taijul Islam was the star of the show as he picked up his 11th five-wicket haul in the format.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Ebadot Hossain picked up two each, while Shoriful Islam picked up the other.
For the visitors, Harry Tector top-scored with 50, while Lorcan Tucker, Curtis Campher, and Mark Adair contributed with 37, 35, and 32 respectively.
Ireland started the final session on 145-6 and lost their seventh quickly as Andy McBrine (19) tried to take on a short ball from Ebadot and lobbed it up for an easy catch for Mominul Haque.
Tucker and Adair then added 40 runs for the eighth wicket, frustrating the Bangladesh bowlers. However, that came to an end when some brilliant glovework from Liton Das saw Tucker stumped off Taijul’s bowling.
The left-arm spinner then trapped Adair LBW before Miraz rattled Graham Hume’s (2) stumps to end the Irish innings.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Ireland skipper Andrew Balbirnie opted to bat first, and they fielded a team with six Test debutants.
Bangladesh fielded three pacers which was expected with the hint of grass on the wicket.
Shoriful brought Bangladesh the first strike when he got rid of Murray Commins (5) in the fifth over before Najmul Hossain Shanto held on at second slip to get rid of James McCollum (15) off Ebadot’s bowling.
From there, skipper Balbirnie and Tector put together a brief stand but it was broken when the former was trapped LBW playing a sweep off Taijul for 16.
Harry Tector and Curtis Campher started the second session well for the visitors as the duo looked well set and added 74 runs for the fourth wicket. Tector picked up his maiden fifty, where he hit six fours and a six, and looked well set before Mehidy Hasan Miraz produced a brilliant delivery which turned in sharply to rattle his stumps on 50.
In the next over, Taijul removed Peter Moor (1) before trapping Campher (34) LBW.
