Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal is still a doubt for the Tigers' solitary Test against Zimbabwe as he is still not at his 100 per cent, Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo said on Monday.
He also added that Mushfiqur Rahim, who is also carrying an injury, is confident of playing.
Both of them suffered their respective injuries during the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. Tamim had problems with his right knee, whereas Mushfiq suffered from a hairline fracture in the index finger of his left hand.
The only Test against Zimbabwe will kick off on Wednesday, and neither Tamim nor Mushfiq took full part in the two-day practice match ahead of that match. Tamim came on to bat in the second innings but had to play only 30 balls before the game was called a draw.
Domingo said that Mushfiq is pretty confident about playing, but Tamim is not at 100 per cent.
"We are still not 100 per cent sure about Tamim. There is still a lot of doubt regarding him. I think we will make a decision soon.
"Mushfiq is pretty confident that he will be fit to play. He has done his rehab really well. Everything seems to be on track. I am pretty confident about him playing," said Domingo.
The Bangladesh head coach also has Shakib Al Hasan back in the red-ball format. The ace all-rounder injured himself in Bangladesh's Test series against West Indies and then opted out of the Tigers' Sri Lanka tour.
Domingo said that Shakib looks hungry, and it was great to have him back in the side.
"Shakib looks really hungry to play Tests again. The thing that is the key with big players is their desire and attitude when they come into a Test series. It is great to have him back.
"He balances the side well. He bats in the top six, and he is a frontline bowler. He is what every international team is looking for, so it is pleasing to have him back. He has brought good energy and attitude on this tour, as well," the head coach said.
Domingo also said that Bangladesh are yet to check out the pitch at the Harare Sports Ground as the groundsman did not let them.
"Unfortunately, the groundsman has not allowed us to look at the pitches. We have been debating with the groundsman this afternoon why he is not allowing us to look at the pitch. Once we have had a good look at the pitch, we will have more ideas about what sort of bowling attack we will be looking at," he said.
Bangladesh team have already played a two-day practice match ahead of their solitary Test against the hosts. Saif Hassan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Shakib hit fifties in that practice match with Mahmudullah Riyad scoring 40.
The bowlers also shined as Shakib and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up three wickets each.
Earlier on the day, the one-day internationals team, set to leave Dhaka for Zimbabwe on July 9 for the three-match series starting on July 16, practised at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday.
The cricketers who are part of the ODI team are Mohammad Naim, Musaddek Hossain, Mohammad Mithun, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain.
Mustafiz and Naim were not present on the first day of training. Both of them are currently in divisional cities with proper facilities and are training there.
Shamim Hossain, who received a call-up for the Twenty20 Internationals team, joined the rest of the ODI team players at SBNCS on Monday.
