Bangladesh one-day internationals skipper and Prime Bank Cricket Club batsman Tamim Iqbal will not feature in the Dhaka Premier League’s Super League following a knee injury.

Tamim limped off the field after Prime Bank’s final match of the first leg on Thursday before he also left the bio-security bubble for his home.

A Bangladesh Cricket Board physician confirmed that Tamim felt discomfort in his right knee’s meniscus.

The BCB physician, however, could not confirm immediately if Tamim’s injury would affect Bangladesh’s Zimbabwe tour.

Bangladesh are scheduled to leave home for Zimbabwe on June 29 to play a Test, three ODIs and as many Twenty20 internationals.

Tamim hoped that he would be fit before one-off Test commences on July 7.

“I was having severe pain in my right knee for the last few days. I was struggling, especially while fielding and running between the wickets,” Tamim told the reporter.

“I have consulted with the doctors and they have told me that it would be better for me to not play and I needed complete rest.

“I need to be in a lot better stage to play international cricket. So, I hope that before the first Test, I will be fit and I will be doing everything I can do to ensure that,” Tamim said.

Tamim’s team Prime Bank have qualified for the Super League with nine wins from their 11 games, accumulating 18 points.
