Taskin Ahmed starred with a match-winning spell as Dhaka Dominators found their second win in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League as they beat Khulna Tigers by 24 runs in a low-scoring affair in Dhaka.

Taskin picked up four wickets for just nine runs in his 3.3 overs.

Dhaka have now won only two games in the tournament, with both coming against Khulna. This was their first win after six consecutive defeats.

Dhaka could only manage a meagre 108 batting first, where only Soumya Sarkar among their top and middle-order reached double figures as the left-handed batter scored 57.

In reply, Khulna crumbled like a house of cards, courtesy of some brilliant bowling from Taskin, and were bowled out for just 84.

Taskin’s performance overshadowed Khulna’s Nahidul Islam, who bowled an incredible spell, picking up four wickets giving away just for six runs.

That saw the Dhaka batters strangled, with only Soumya being able to put on a display as the batter picked up his first fifty of the tournament, and ended up hitting six fours and two sixes.

Only two other batters from Dhaka managed to reach double figures - Taskin (12) and Al-Amin Hossain (10).

In reply, Khulna lost Shai Hope early as Taskin went through his gates, and soon, skipper Nasir Hossain got rid of Mahmudul Hasan. Tamim Iqbal (3)) was sent back by Nasir too before Taskin returning to get rid of Azam Khan.

Skipper Yasir Ali (21) was the next to go, leaving them at 67-5. They still had Mohammad Saifuddin to rely on, but he and all the others failed, meaning they were bowled out for 84, the lowest total in this year’s BPL.
