New Zealand were strangled by the Bangladesh bowlers after they elected to bat first in the first twenty20 international of the five-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday as they were bowled out for only 60 runs in 16 overs.
Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets while Nasum Ahmed, Shakib Al Hasan, and Saifuddin bagged a brace.
Shak Mahedi Hasan made a habit of picking wicket in the very first over of the innings during the series against Australia and he continued that against New Zealand as he drew the first blood by removing debutant Rachin Ravindra for a duck.
The inexperienced kiwi side kept losing wickets against the spinners in regular intervals and Mustafiz wrapped up the tail by picking up three wickets to restrict them for their ever lowest score which is 60.
Earlier, New Zealand was all-out for 60 runs against Sri Lanka during the 2014 ICC World T20 and on Wednesday they matched the same low.
This is also the lowest ever team total for any team against Bangladesh in the T20s.
Tom Latham and Henry Nichols are the only two batsmen who went past single-digit score and coincidentally both of them were out for 18 runs respectively.
