Four wickets from Ebadot Hossain have put Bangladesh in the driving seat of their one-off Test against Afghanistan in Dhaka as the visitors trail by 238 runs at tea on the second day as the Tigers picked up five wickets in the second session.

The Afghans are on 144-8 at tea, with Karim Janat (21*) and Nijat Masood at the crease.

Besides Ebadot’s four wickets, Shoriful Islam has picked up two wickets alongside Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam picking up a wicket each.

The second session started ominously for the Tigers as Afghan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi (9) edged one to Miraz at slip. However, a 65-run stand between Nasir Jamal (35) and Afsar Zazai (36) showed Afghanistan some hope before Miraz trapped the former LBW to break the partnership.

Soon after, Zazai tried to take on a short ball from Ebadot and found Shoriful in the boundary to go back.

Another short ball from Ebadot saw the ball lob off Amir Hamza’s gloves, and Mominul Haque took a brilliant catch at short leg to ensure the wicket.

Taijul picked up the final scalp in the session as he found the edge of Yamin Ahmadzai to send him back for a duck.
