In the second ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand, Bangladesh lost the toss and were sent to bat first at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Tuesday. The visitors lost opener Liton Das in the very second over of the match.
Bangladesh were extra cautious from the start of the innings. Hagley Oval is the venue where pace-bowlers get more pace and bounce than anywhere in New Zealand, and Liton fell to a short-ball from Matt Henry.
In fact, Liton was standing outside the crease and he picked the length early. He was in a good place to play the short ball, but the placement was wrong. Will Young took an easy catch to remove Liton for a duck.
Bangladesh made one change in this game, replacing Hasan Mahmud with Mohammad Saifuddin. Hasan, the right-arm pacer, played the series opener and conceded 49 runs to take one wicket in 4.2 overs.
In the first match of the series, Bangladesh lost the match by eight wickets after posting only 131 runs on the board.
The third and final ODI of the series will be played at Basin Reserve, Wellington, on March 26. After the ODI series, both teams will play a three-match T20I series.
