Bangladesh piled on a mountain of runs on the Afghans as they set the visitors a target off 662 runs in their one-off Test in Dhaka as the Tigers declared their second innings on 425-4.

This is the highest target Bangladesh have set for any team in their history.

Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque picked up centuries, while Zakir Hasan and Liton Das picked up fifties.

Mominul and Liton were unbeaten at the end on 121 and 66 respectively.

Bangladesh started the day on 134-1 and both Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan started from they left off in the second day.

Najmul went on to reach triple figures to become the second Bangladeshi cricketer to score two centuries in a match but Zakir missed out on a century as he was run out on 71 while trying to take a risky third run.

Najmul’s innings ended on 124 when he tried to flick a ball towards the leg side but the ball lobbed off his pad and gave an easy catch to Abdul Malik.

Mushfiqur Rahim came in and hit two boundaries in two balls and in the third, was out trying a reverse sweep.

From there Mominul and Liton put together a 143-run stand between them to take Bangladesh’s lead past 600.

Mominul reached his 12th Test century, his first in two years, off 123 balls, while Liton reached his first fifty as Test captain off only 53 balls.
