Bangladesh were made to toil in the second session of the third day of their one-off Test against Ireland as the visitors lost just a wicket to take a 44-run lead.

Ireland are on 199-6 at tea after scoring 106 runs in 27 overs in the second session, losing only Harry Tector’s wicket, which fell to Taijul Islam after the Irish batter picked up his second fifty of the match.

Lorcan Tucker is at the crease on 89, accompanied by Andy McBrine on 27.

Ireland were on 93-5 at the start of the second session but a 72-run stand between Tector and Tucker saw them gain some ground as the former picked up his second fifty on his debut match.

However, he was back soon as he tried to sweep Taijul but missed it to get trapped LBW on 56.

That ended up being Bangladesh’s only moment of joy in the session.

Tucker reached his fifty off 94 balls and put together an unbeaten 76-run stand with McBrine, which saw them gain a lead.

Tucker’s 89 runs till now have come off 132 balls, hitting 11 fours and a six.

Earlier, starting the day on 27-4, the Ireland duo of Tector and Peter Moor were cautious from the very start as their partnership scored 38 runs in 154 balls.

That stand was broken when Moor edged one off Shoriful’s bowling to Liton Das behind the stumps to return for 16 off 78 balls.
