A sensational knock from Paul Stirling saw Bangladesh lose the third and final Twenty20 International to Ireland by seven wickets in Chattogram.
This was Ireland’s first victory in Bangladesh. The Tigers have won the series 2-1 after winning the first two matches.
Bangladesh could only manage 124 batting first as only Shamim Hossain managed to score 51.
In reply, Stirling’s 77 off 41 balls did not give the Tigers any chance as the Irish chased the total down with six overs in hand.
Stirling’s innings, which had 10 fours and four sixes, was brought to an end by debutant Rishad Hossain, who claimed his first international wicket.
Earlier, batting first, Bangladesh did not have a great start to the innings for the first time this series as they lost Liton Das (5) in the second over before Najmul Hossain Shanto departed in the next (4).
Rony Talukdar (14) and Shakib Al Hasan (6) were the next to go as Bangladesh ended the power play on 41-4.
Despite the crumble, Bangladesh batters kept trying to stay positive and hit their way out, which did not work as they were down to 61-7 in the 10th over, losing Towhid Hridoy (12), Rishad Hossain (8), and Taskin Ahmed (0).
From there, Shamim fought a lone battle as he picked up his first fifty before falling in the final over, taking Bangladesh to 124.
