Bangladesh set a target of 247 for Ireland to chase in their first One-Day International of their three-match series against Ireland in Chelmsford, England on Tuesday.

After an early collapse in their innings, being sent to bat first, Mushfiqur Rahim’s 61 and Najmul Hossain Shanto’s 44 led the Tigers to a defensible total.

Joshua Little trapped opener Liton Das to a venomous inswinger as the batter was gone for none. Skipper Tamim Iqbal soon followed him as he was gone for 10.

Shakib Al Hasan looked promising but he was caught by Graham Hume for 20. Shanto made a resilience from there before Mushfiq and Mehedy Hasan Miraz took the side to the 200-mark. With Shariful Islam’s 16 at the end, the Tigers’ innings ended on 246-9.

For Ireland, Little took three wickets while Hume and Mark Adair took two each.
