Bangladesh managed to win their rain-affected Twety20 International against Ireland by 22 runs (DLS method) to go 1-0 up in the three-match series in Chattogram on Monday.
Batting first, Bangladesh managed 207-5 in 19.2 overs before rain interrupted, courtesy of Rony Talukdar’s maiden T20I fifty.
A long break due to rain meant that the revised target for Ireland was 104 in eight overs.
Ireland were off to a flyer as they gathered 32 runs in the first two overs, but a combination of Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, and Shakib Al Hasan ensured that the visitors could only manage 81 runs in those eight overs.
Taskin picked up four wickets, while Hasan Mahmud picked up one.
