Ireland started strong in their chasing of Bangladesh’s 274 in their third and final One-Day International of their three-match series in Chelmsford, England. Ireland are now batting on 91-1after 20 overs.
Paul Stirling is at the crease on 45, alongside Andy Balbirnie, who is on 31.
Ireland were put under pressure early in their innings as Bangladesh’s pacer Mustafizur Rahman ousted Irish opener Stephen Doheny on the sixth over on a full length delivery which angled across the batter to a caught in the second slip, and Ireland were down to 17-1.
Skipper Balbirnie then partnered with Stirling to fight back into the game and after the 20 overs, they are on the front foot.
Earlier, Bangladesh were sent to bat first after Ireland won the toss where the Tigers were bowled out for only 274.
In their innings, Bangladesh were put under pressure by the Ireland bowlers as no Bangladeshi batter could set on the pitch to make his innings big. Skipper Tamim Iqbal top-scored for the Tigers with 69 while Mushfiqur Rahim scored 45.
Bangladesh are 1-0 ahead in the three-match series after winning the second ODI by three wickets after the first match was washed out.
